The government has availed over a billion dollars for the refurbishment of toll plazas across the country in the year 2021.
A total of $1,154,200,000,00 has been allocated to the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (The development was announced by ZINARA on its official Twitter handle today.
The financial injection will go a long way in upgrading the country’s toll plazas, with some still below standard and also having been affected by recent heavy rains.
ZINARA is a corporate body that was established in terms of the Road Act (Chapter 13:18) and is a vital cog in the government’s commitment to prioritize the enhancement of a good road network system throughout the country. The mandate of ZINARA is to fix, collect, disburse road user charges and mobilize revenue for roads development and maintenance. It also encompasses the monitoring of such funds that would have been disbursed for road maintenance to road authorities.
