Former Minister Petronella Kagonye was today granted bail by magistrate Stanford Mambanje for serious fraud charges running into millions of United States dollars.
Kagonye is accused of illegal parcelling out of state land which was confirmed by head of the Special Anti- Corruption Unit (SACU).
Magistrate Mambanje released Kagonye on ZW$30 000 bail basing on the fact that she was not a flight risk and is also breast feeding a 7 month old baby which the state did not oppose.
Petronella Kagonye is a member of Zanu PF party and a former Minister of Labour and Social Welfare as well as a former deputy minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development.
She is a member of the ZANU PF women’s league and was once a Member of Parliament for Goromonzi South constituency until 2018.
The former Minister was dismissed from ZANU PF in 2014 on allegations of factionalism and reinstated back in 2017 when she was appointed the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Services.
She is also the owner of a company called Glorious Properties.
