Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Felix Mhona this week toured Zimborders Beitbridge construction project accompanied by a high power delegation from the Ministry as part of his nation-wide familiarization tour since he entered office early this year.

A multi-million dollar upgrading and modernisation of Beitbridge border project officiated by H.E President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018 is one of the major new dispensation’s commitments in promoting trade facilitation and regional integration.

Most importantly, this crucial project will result in multi-faceted growth and development of the country’s economy in line with driving Zimbabwe achieving it’s middle class economic status by 2030.

“Today, l visited the border post to assess the project”,

“l can confirm that Vision 2030 is achievable if we if we keep this momentun”, said Hon.Minister Mhona on his Twitter account.

Hon.Mhona further confirms that the facelifting of the Beitbridge border post is underway and is set to increase efficiency and plugging revenue leakages.

Zimbabwe is the shortest route linking the Southern and Northern corridors for transit carriers, all what is needed right now is to speedup construction major highways to complement the border project to attract traffic that had diverted routes through Botswana.

On average, 15,000 people and at least 500 trucks cross Beitbridge border post daily all being equal and numbers are set to increase 3-fold upon completion of the multi-million dollar World-Class Zimborders modernization project.
